TLA Subsea have had a busy month with virtual meetings and presentations being held with prospective clients. There has been a lot of positive feedback and the advantages of not requiring hydraulic tooling or a separate hydraulic power unit or dirty work pack to be fitted to the ROV has been recognised as a considerable advantage.
The design of the BOP tensioner is now well advanced and detailed drawings are being prepared before being issued for tender. Finite Element Analysis is being performed in parallel with this, with all results to date showing low levels of stress throughout the tensioner components. TLA Subsea have also placed orders for long lead items of equipment and are waiting for confirmation of delivery dates and remain hopeful to have a prototype tensioner built and tested by May 2021 despite Supply Chain issues due to COVID-19 lockdown measures.
